Race of the Santas & Lighting of Breckenridge – Dec. 7, 2024
Hundreds of running Santas. A parade of holiday dogs. Festive carolers and bright lights. What’s not to love about this beloved Main Street tradition?! Don your red coats and fuzzy hats and get ready to run! This festive event brings holiday spirit to Main Street for the annual Race of the Santas and Lighting of the Breckenridge tree in Blue River Plaza. The festivities kick off with a dog parade of pets of all shapes, sizes, and breeds leading their humans down Main Street Breck. Next up is the Moose March where kiddos from 10-17 attempt to be first to complete a .5 mile course through downtown Breck prior to the adults running the same route in their best Santa and Mrs. Claus costumes. End the night with a countdown to the spruce in Blue River Plaza lighting up with hundreds of sparkling lights and live out your own Hallmark-movie moment.
Ullr Fest – Dec. 12-14, 2024
Ullr! Ullr! Ullr! Bust out your Viking helmets, grab your finest furs (faux encouraged!), and get ready to give your praise and offerings to the man, the myth, the main character, the Norse God of Snow, Ullr (pronounced like “Cooler’). This wild and whacky annual community-wide celebration has been taking place on Main Street for more than 60 years, with origins rooted in the ski resort’s Norwegian founders and the idea that Breck would be all about the fun and joy of winter and sliding on snow. Today, the event includes the world’s longest shotski that runs the length of Main Street, a town parade and a giant community bonfire. Come one, come all, and mark your calendars because you won’t want to miss this one-of-a-kind ski town celebration. Horns Up! Pray for snow!
International Snow Sculpture Championships – Jan. 20-29, 2025
Breck’s International Snow Sculpture Championships presented by Toyota is the world-renowned snow sculpting competition where teams from across the globe descend on Breckenridge to hand-carve 25-ton blocks of snow into enormous, intricate works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools (no power tools allowed!), ingenuity, and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. Teams sculpt over five days (totaling nearly 100 hours), resulting in a temporary outdoor art gallery in historic downtown Breck. Sculpting will take place Jan. 20-24, and viewing and judging will take place Jan. 24-29. This event is free and open to all, though reservations are required for viewing on Saturday, Jan. 25. Double down on all your favorite spring staples – high alpine laps, live music and DJs, and the annual tradition of pond skimming, with a new two-day format for two times the big Breck energy.That’s right! Two days of free concerts AND two days of pond skimming. Send it into spring in style withus in April when it all goes down at the center of the universe A.K.A. the base of Peak 8. Costumes are strongly encouraged, so get out your favorite onesie, your brightest neon, or your most water-resistant denim and join us for all the fun.
