Exploring Winter Park Beyond Skiing

Winter Park Colorado

Exploring Winter Park Beyond Skiing

Year after year, Winter Park Resort has been named a top ski resort in North America, but we’ve also been recognized for our non-ski activities. Just this year, our Coca Cola® Tubing Hill was named one of the top five snow tubing parks in North America. You don’t have to ski or ride to enjoy the beautiful mountains and the outdoors in Winter Park. We have outdoor activities for both adrenaline enthusiasts and those who want to relax. Check out these non-ski mountain activities in Winter Park to make your winter vacation a memorable one.

Just 70 miles from Denver, Winter Park is the closest major ski resort to the city — but proximity doesn’t mean overdevelopment. Tucked into a quiet corner of the Rockies, we’ve worked hard to protect the natural landscape and preserve the authentic ski-town charm that defines us.

Winter Park Resort

Located in the heart of the Fraser Valley, Winter Park offers stunning views and direct access to over 765,000 acres of public land. It’s a place where anyone can experience the raw beauty of Colorado, explore new terrain, and feel part of a vibrant, welcoming outdoor community.

The mountain itself is a playground for adventure, offering over 3,000 acres of diverse terrain for every level — from first-timers to seasoned pros. And when winter gives way to summer, the action continues with world-class mountain biking, hiking, and alpine slides lighting up the slopes.

ONE WINTER PARK

We’re a community of explorers and thrill-seekers, nature lovers and mountain lifers — united by a deep appreciation for this wild and beautiful place. Whether skiing, fly fishing, biking, or hiking, the adventure never ends. To celebrate our mountain lifestyle, we’ve renewed our commitment to the community, continuing to shape Winter Park as a premier Colorado destination — where people connect with nature and with each other through a shared love for the outdoors.

Tubing

If you’re looking for mountain thrills for all ages, you’ve found ’em! Bring the whole crew for fun in the fast lane, incredible views, and sweet treats at the Coca Cola® Tubing Hill. New this year, we’re adding a whole new dimension to The Tubing Hill experience – nighttime Cosmic Tubing, complete with twinkle lights, crisp mountain air, and a little extra adrenaline. The Tubing Hill features individual lanes, banked curves, and a covered conveyor lift ride back to the top. End your time at the tubing hill with a cherry on top, or should we say marshmallow? Stop by Hill House for a gourmet hot chocolate and freshly-baked cookies! The Tubing Hill can sell out fast, so make sure to book your spot today!

Snowshoeing

Picture this: You’re strolling through a quiet, snow-covered, wintery forest, exploring unspoiled nature and soaking in the views of the surrounding mountains. Sounds magical right? Because it is! The Nature Snowshoe Tour is tailored toward the whole crew and is filled with views of snow-covered Rocky Mountains. The Summit Snowshoe Tour ventures off the beaten path as you traverse some high alpine terrain to explore the tree line and are rewarded with incredible views of the Fraser River Valley.

You also have the opportunity to soak in the quiet and peaceful woods during twilight. Watch as the sun begins to set and the day becomes night. This is truly a great way to experience pure and unspoiled nature. After you return to the Gondola, head into Sunspot to enjoy a beverage by a warm fire.

Snowcat

Sit back and relax for this unique sightseeing experience that is perfect for someone of any age. Learn about the history of the area, the local flora and fauna, and get the best views Winter Park has to offer all while inside a heated snowcat. We offer a daytime tour that’ll take you up to the top of Mary Jane where you can get drinks at Lunch Rock and soak in the view of the Continental Divide and Parry Peak. Our Sunset Tour explores Vasquez Ridge and offers unbeatable views of the Fraser River Valley. You will also be able to soak in the last sunlight of the day while enjoying beverages and making s’mores.

Snow Bike

The most fun you’ll have on 3 skis! Yes, you read that right. Cruise down the ski runs like never before with a SnoGo ski bike.  Join Winter Park guides on this must-do, 3-hour hour tour and explore the mountain in a new and exhilarating way. Don’t believe us? Check out this video below and read the testimonials (there are a lot of them)!

Après

The best way to end a day on the mountain is on the mountain, but with your feet up and a cold (or warm) beverage. Take in the final views of the day at 10,700 feet from the beauty of Sunspot Mountain Lodge during Mountaintop Après on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this winter between 4pm -7pm. Enjoy live music and a spectacular alpenglow along the Continental Divide and Parry Peak as you swap ski stories with friends.

And don’t forget the Gondola is free for après after 4pm!

Astronomy Tour

Take a peek through a telescope and take in a view of the night sky like you’ve never seen. See and learn about planets, constellations, galaxies, and maybe even see some shooting stars (if you’re lucky)!

Snowmobiling

Are you ready for a remarkable adventure that’ll boost your adrenaline? Here it is!  Hop on a snowmobile and begin your ascent up the Continental Divide with Grand Adventure Tours. You’ll go up to 12,000 ft with incredible views of Winter Park Ski Area and Fraser River Valley.

Winter Park is more than just a world-class ski resort! We offer activities from sunrise to sunset for all kinds of mountain adventurers. No matter how you choose to explore the mountains, we’re glad you did it here! Check out all of our winter activities and make sure you don’t forget to book slopeside lodging to stay just steps from the fun.
